In short...
A fairly short precis of who Wayne Butler is, plus CV.

Portfolio
A selection of projects i have been involved with over the years.

“Deadlines were always tight but at no point was this reflected in the work that was produced. Wayne was a pleasure to work with, his clear understanding of what was required made the whole process stress free.”

Wayne
This is Wayne Butler.

I was born in the 60s, albeit the last week, in the south of England, but raised during the 70s in Hartlepool, on the north east shores of the British Isles wondering if i would ever experience sunny weather and an accent i could understand. My parents moved south to the outskirts of Peterborough and I went through school where i would develop a passion for art & design and sport. I became a hot salesman of football programmes for the local football team for my sins.

After leaving school in the summer of '86, i became an inmate at the Isle College in Wisbech where my design skills were honed at the expense of my tennis and footballing ability. Two years followed in the Salisbury College of Art before getting my breakthrough in the job market. After spending a day freelancing at Jordan Williams (Corporate ID consultancy, London) i just kept turning up until they gave me a rolling monthly contract.

Within three years the company had folded after difficult times and my footballing career followed suit, though my prowess on the badminton and tennis courts gave hope for the future. Three years at Binder Hamlyn Chartered Accountants inhouse graphics department, followed where i also became a football star in the accountancy league and began following my team - Southampton, both home and away, a drain on my economy not to mentin my mental state. Gildersons came knocking and I accepted the offer to join the merry gang progressing to director in the company and becoming the main point of contact for our big clients.

I got married and divorced (though a good 7 year itch), the tennis got better, the football boots got thrown out and I bought an original mini. I bought a house in South London, spent every waking hour renovating it and then sold it when my lust for travel took over me. I bought a one way ticket to St Petersburg in November 2001 and travelled through to Borneo in some of the worst buses and trains known to man.

Swedish adventure
As well as travelling around the world, my three other aims in life were to work abroad, learn another langauge and be able to play a musical instrument. Whilst hiking around China I met Katarina (tall, blond, swedish....you can picture it) and after several months in Asia joined her in Sweden. Soon after followed a new renovating project and long days at SFI (swedish for immigrants) and house and became a swedish immigrant earning a rather odd choice of foreign language (well, odd for a brit, OK?). Another tour around South America followed before I started my own company and got our first child -Sonja.

After two years of trying to understand people in Skåne we moved to Gällivare, 100km north of the Arctic Circle. The mini followed and a new pair of football boots were purchased. Four years followed in one of the world's most northern design agencies and four appearances for the local football side, plus a starring roll in a tennis advertising film. Tim and Alice came along and the five of us said goodbye to Lapland for Borås, Sweden's rainiest town!

After 3 years as an art director and part owner of Ideinvest ad agency we closed down and have also played my last football match. I still follow Southampton FC though only on the web and still have an ambition to play tennis at Wimbledon.

I now move files around and fiddle with home furnishing pictures for Jotex catalogue. To my family's intense annoyance I have also finally started piano lessons.
